Kari & Michael came to me needing a very specific piece of furniture to work in their bedroom as storage for clothing and display curio and photos. They had just completed their dream house, a new arts and crafts influenced home which blended beautifully into an older section of town. Kari's desires for the Armoire included a display for family pictures, a cozy spot for her favorite jewelry and small treasures, a convenient area for clothing that was easy to access and large drawers for heavier garments and bedding. Pull out trays below the shelving make searches easy.
The piece utilizes the mahogany coming out of Africa called Sipo. Its rich color, active grain and distinctive figure provide contrast to the solid flamed birch panels (the light colored wood) from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I book matched all material across the center line of the piece for balance
Collaboration is the key to a successful piece of furniture.
